History
Chemical tradition since 1888

MERANOL, established in Argentina since 1942, is the direct successor of CHEMISCHE FABRIK MEERANE mbH, German chemical company founded by Josef Wertheim. Since 1888, it operated in Meerane and Lugau (Saxony, Germany).

From its very beginnings, its founder clearly defined his business strategy based on two main points:
» Production and distribution of industrial chemicals
» Representations of top international companies

In those first years he sensed the need for the development of new productions that up to that moment were not carried out in the country. Due to that, Meranol is now the first producer of Aluminium Sulphate base Aluminium Hydroxide.
Furthermore, since post war times, relations with European companies were re-established, and these entrusted Meranol with their representation in Argentina.

During the 70´s an important boost was given to company representations, thus expanding the product range and the companies represented in Argentina.

At the beginning of the 90´s, strategic planning based on the opportunity of growing in the market with the acquisition of the Dock Sud Plant to Atanor, developing from then onwards, a policy of productive diversification with the concept of vertical integration in large scale, favouring above all, quality and service.

This acquisition made of Meranol the main producer of Aluminium Sulphate base Hydroxide in South America.
